The Starving Bibliophile

Books before food (and any sort of comfortable life).

My Blue Balloon

Blue Balloon

Oh, my blue balloon
Please don’t fly away
Hold tight in my hand
If only for today

For the place where we’re going
Is miles and miles from here
And you can’t get there without me
You’d get lost, I fear

I’m sure the clouds would love you
As you waved as you flew by
And you’d laugh as you passed them
Flying higher in the sky

You’d soon reach the heavens
In their angelic, holy grace
And you’d cry tears of joy
As you looked upon God’s face

I know that you would like it there
Being happy and carefree
But I need you here on earth
You promised you’d never leave

So, my blue balloon
Please don’t fly away
Hold tight in my hand
If only for today

—An original poem by me, Jenna Loesch
Dedicated to Tomas, who has lost more balloons than he should have.
